Shopping for your
Pool Table

You should allow at least 4 feet of space around the pool table for your shots.

The construction of your pool table will be the most important choice you will make for the long term enjoyment of your investment.

Quality construction will depend on the type of materials used for the legs, sides, rails and the underside of your table.  Some are made of solid wood, plywood and/or metals.

A high quality table top is normally 1 inch slate.  Always ask what and how the slate is supported.  Also, determine if the slate is one solid piece.

Most pool table purchases come with the ball set, triangle to setup the game and 2 to 4 cues.  Ask what is included with your purchase and if delivery and setup is additional.  A lot of dealers will ship free. Find out is they have a delivery and setup service in your area.  If not the dealer may be able to refer a delivery and setup service in your area.  Some stores hire another dealer for the delivery and setup if the delivery location is out of their area.

If you are an experienced pool player and you play pool often, you may want to invest in a table with quality to solid wood construction and a slate table.

If you rarely play pool but think you would if you had a pool table, or if you are purchasing the pool table for kids, you may want to consider beginning with a starter version and then if you are still playing pool in the next year or two, you could make your long range investment.

Just remember, even your starter pool table should be at least a 6 foot table. Make sure the table top is level as well as the legs.  Otherwise, shots will not be straight and you will loose interest in the game!
